The rhythmic push-pull with the drummer is like a conversation within the song, for those with ears to listen.  Bass-as-drums was a necessity when we were kids, and drummers were in shorter supply.  You had to learn to mimic the sound and feel of kick-snare to get by without a drummer.  More was revealed (to me) as I discovered Larry Graham&#039;s story of bass-as-drums, as well as rockabilly stand-up slap bass.  Now, I think better effects technology has fully realized the potential of rhythmic bass.  Thanks for writing this, Max, I can&#039;t wait to hear your new material.</description>
